Swimming

Swimming lessons will be starting up straight after Easter on 4th April! The boys will be brought to and from the pool and just need to bring a bag with swimming togs, goggles and a towel (please refer to the letter that has been sent home for dates and details).
Aquatics is part of the PE curriculum and the boys will learn about; hygiene, water safety, buoyancy, propulsion, stroke development and how to enter and exit the water.

Ms.Fannin's class will not be getting the aforementioned discount of €5 for swimming (in lieu of the Bunscríobh book that was bought at the start of the year) due to the electronic payment system that has been set up. However, the €5 discount will be taken off the cost of the school tour instead.

The boys seem to be looking forward to it - it may even be an effective tool in trying to get them out of bed on the Monday morning after the holidays!!

Food Dudes

The boys have done so so well with the food dudes programme and we can clearly see an increase in the amount of fruit and veg being brought in lunch boxes every day! SIX boys have gotten their Champion Certificates which means they have exceeded the expectations of teachers and An Bord Bia!

Well done to all of you mums and dads for being committed to the programme and getting creative with curly courgettes, interesting salads and carrots with dips!!

Keep it up and keep General Junk at bay!

1916 celebrations

In preparation for proclamation day on March 15th, the whole school have been asked to gather folklore from family, friends or relatives who have grown up in Ballyroan or the wider Rathfarnham area.

Folklore can be described as the passing on of knowledge, practices and stories by oral means. By sharing our folklore, it means that stories and insights into the past are shared and passed on to future generations.

The boys have all been given a sheet which is in their folder and which needs to be filled out by Friday 11th. They must choose somebody to 'interview' and then record their story on the sheet. It can be something as simple as documenting the changes in Ballyroan Parish or discussing the delivery of glass bottled milk to houses in the area!

Best of luck with it!
