1916 celebrations

In preparation for proclamation day on March 15th, the whole school have been asked to gather folklore from family, friends or relatives who have grown up in Ballyroan or the wider Rathfarnham area.

Folklore can be described as the passing on of knowledge, practices and stories by oral means. By sharing our folklore, it means that stories and insights into the past are shared and passed on to future generations.

The boys have all been given a sheet which is in their folder and which needs to be filled out by Friday 11th. They must choose somebody to 'interview' and then record their story on the sheet. It can be something as simple as documenting the changes in Ballyroan Parish or discussing the delivery of glass bottled milk to houses in the area!

Best of luck with it!
